Why use blast cleaning for steelwork?
When it comes to restoring steel to its former glory and ensuring its readiness for further treatment, nothing matches the efficacy of blast cleaning. By diving deep into the microscopic levels of your steel’s surface, our blast cleaning technology doesn’t just clean; it revitalizes.
Benefits of blast cleaning steelwork
Understanding why blast cleaning stands out requires a look into its dual benefits. Firstly, it paves the way for impeccable paint adhesion. With old paint and rust completely removed, the new paint finds a surface it can truly bond with, leading to not just visually striking results, but also longer-lasting ones.
Secondly, for those steel pieces set for galvanising, blast cleaning ensures that the steel is in its optimal state. By preparing it right, we’re not just aiming for successful galvanising; we’re ensuring the process enhances the steel’s durability and resistance.
Steelwork longevity protection
Steel, as robust as it is, needs protection against the elements and time. Our blast cleaning process does more than restore its aesthetics. By systematically removing old paint and rust, we’re also fortifying its inherent strength, ensuring it stands the test of time with enhanced resilience.

B A Sam at SET was great. Managed to fit me in quickly and did a great job sandblasting years of built up paint from the old porch on my house. The sandstone is gleaming and we’re really happy with it. Cheers! Justin Shiels Sam came as arranged, on time. On the first occasion the weather (it's Cumbria!) meant his mask would have steamed up so he returned a week later again as planned. Communication excellent throughout. The actual sand blasting was done very well and no traces of the paint left on the face of the stonework. He was sensitive to the materials and some cement based bandings were left as the blasting was likely to damage or destroy them. He also gave due warning about the dust created! After the work he cleaned up well in the area he was working in. All in all a very good experience for us. Thanks. Kerry Alford Sam was very communicative, came around swiftly to quote and booked in very quickly. The task was to sand blast my garage back to bare brick ready for conversion and Sam did a great job. Left the place tidy and kept mess to a minimum (it is a messy job!) I would highly recommend Sam for any of your sandblasting needs ☺️ Nick Hambrey I had a need to have a old barn solid wall facing SW sandblasted. This was to remove a failed painted waterproof coating that was absorbing rainwater and not releasing the moisture. The walls therefore were permanently wet or damp with increasing internal mould and condensation. SET (Sam) advised sandblasting and repointing. The job was done most efficiently over 2 days nearly a year ago from today (mid August 2025).The repointing was performed by and associate of SET. Both jobs were rather messy as expected but the result has been outstanding. Internal wall insulation has helped as well but now there is no visible internal damp or condensation and the exterior walls with water repellent look much drier. Overall therefore I'm pleased with the outcome. Anyone thinking of waterproofing porous walls with so called waterproof paint should think long and hard about that solution. It seems an easy fix but is fraught with difficulties down the line. A breathable wall is what we have now and I think a great solution. I recommend SET wholeheartedly. Depro Gaming I've used Sam for several sandblasting jobs over the past 3 years. Professional service, fair pricing, properly decent bloke! I would recommend him to people I like 👌 benjamin irwin What an epic experience. From a short phone call to have my bike frame sand blasted. After speaking to SET sandblasting, The frame was dropped off and blasted to the highest standard and to exact requirements I asked for. No less than a 3 day turnaround over the weekend what more could I ask for. I will be using SET sandblasting again for sure. Lee Black Really thorough and professional job sandblasting some internal beams. Would highly recommend. Claire Brennan I would highly recommend Sam he did a great job of sandblasting the external stonework on my cottage. The difference it has made is fantastic! He was very professional and reasonably priced Adrian Cresswell Sam was contracted in by our builder to sand blast the whole of our house whilst we renovated the internal space. I can highly recommend SET Sandblasting for his professionalism, time management, and his skillsetLoad more
